Christmas Stores serve hundreds of local families

Xmas Store2.

Posted: December 20, 2017

The Dayton Life Enrichment Center (LEC) and the Franklin Downtown Help Center partnered with Fairhaven Church for the second consecutive year to create two special Christmas stores to help families in poverty this holiday season.

As part of their annual Christmas Gift project, attendees of Fairhaven Church helped stock stores at both locations by filling over 1,000 bins with over $100,000 worth of items such as toys and pajamas, including over $17,000 in gift cards.

The store allowed parents and grandparents to enjoy shopping for their children, as well as have their gifts wrapped. One shopper shared, “We’ve had 14 babies come through our home through the foster care system and we’ve adopted seven of them. We couldn’t provide gifts for all of them if this program didn’t exist. Thank you!”

And it wasn’t just the shoppers who felt the impact of this ministry. One volunteer shared, Serving at the LEC completely changes your view of what it means to fill a bin. It means so much more.”

To all of you who either filled a bin or served at either Christmas Store, thank you for giving generously and volunteering your time! Together, we helped over 350 families find hope this Christmas season.
