Apply to shop at the Christmas Store

Posted: October 7, 2019

Do you get stressed out about coming up with the money to buy Christmas gifts for your kids? Worried you won’t be able to afford gifts this year?

If so, the Christmas Store may be able to help.

Every parent wants to provide gifts for their kids to open at Christmas. We understand your struggle, and we want to ease the challenge of the holiday season, and connect you with agencies who offer year-round support, by inviting you to apply to participate in The Christmas Store.

The Christmas Store is a collaboration between Fairhaven Church, Arbor Church and the Life Enrichment Center. If you are an attendee/member of Fairhaven OR are involved in our Single Moms, Celebrate Recovery, Thrive Together, FAM or DivorceCare groups OR part of the Feeding Friends Food Pantry, Dayton Victory Project or the OVD Tornado Rebuilding Together group you are invited to apply (This event is not open to the public).

The store is a great example of “exchange charity,” where both parties give and receive. The small fee you pay allows you, the one who knows your child better than anyone, to select the perfect gifts from a large assortment of brand new items, beautifully displayed in a store created just for you! Plus, the money collected is put right back into the store to purchase supplies like shelving and wrapping paper.

To participate, you’ll need to pre-register. Once your registration is approved, you’ll choose a shopping day and time. When you arrive to check in, you will pay cash for each child you pre-registered for and then browse through thousands of brand new items sorted by age range and category. Then, you’ll proceed to a gift-wrap area where you’ll have the option of having your gifts wrapped or wrapping them yourself. After visiting our resource room, where you can get information on area agencies/programs you’re interested in and let us know any prayer requests you have, we’ll load your packages into your vehicle.

If you’re considering whether The Christmas Store is right for you, please keep a few things in mind:

  1. The children you shop for must be high school seniors or younger, and you must be their legal guardian.
  2. You’ll need your own transportation to and from the store.
  3. You must be available to shop during the designated store hours.
  4. Once you’ve chosen a shopping appointment, it cannot be changed.
  5. You’ll need to bring $15 cash for each child you pre-registered to shop for when you check in.
  6. The store does not have childcare, and children, except nursing infants, are not allowed in the shopping area so please plan accordingly.

Sound good to you? Then apply today! We look forward to meeting you and serving you this Christmas. And we pray that The Christmas Store will help you find hope in Jesus, the reason for the season.
