Fairhaven Church’s Centerville Campus was recently certified “green” through Dayton Regional Green. Fairhaven joins 320 certified green businesses and organizations throughout the Dayton area, including two other Centerville churches.
In order to become certified, Fairhaven had to complete the green certification checklist with over 50 items in categories such as energy and water conservation, building sustainability and healthy employees.
“It’s important that we view environmental stewardship as a key component to being a leader in our community,” said Doug Piatt, Director of Building Operations.
One of the biggest changes to the Centerville Campus was the replacement of 4,000 fluorescent lights with energy efficient LEDs, which will cut the annual electric bill by close to 50%.
“This project has taken about two years to complete, but will impact Fairhaven for many years to come,” said Piatt. “And every dollar we save allows us to invest more in helping people in our community find hope.”
Dayton Regional Green is a leadership collaborative committed to enhancing the quality of life and environmental assets of the Dayton region by growing our economy, protecting a healthy environment, and promoting social responsibility.
