Pastor, Global Outreach
Kirk’s passion for global missions and local outreach is both evident and contagious to everyone around him. He has spent over 30 years in ministry, including 7 years as a missionary in Bolivia equipping Bolivian pastors, missionaries and ministry leaders, and many years pastoring churches in the United States and Canada. Kirk joined the Fairhaven staff in 2002 serving as the Outreach Pastor and has been instrumental in training and sending missionaries from Fairhaven around the world ever since.
Kirk holds degrees from Southern Illinois University, Emmaus Bible College, and Wheaton College Graduate School. He was married to his wife Paula for 27 years, and they were blessed with four wonderful children – Deb, Emily, Josh and Caleb – before Paula’s passing in 2009. When Kirk is away from the excitement of his ministry, he enjoys spending time with his kids, close friends and his extended family. He also enjoys watching good movies, eating international cuisine, whitewater rafting and international travel.Email
The timing of the beginning of my serving on staff was a God thing. I was getting ready to accept a ministry position at an Alliance Church on the east coast when Pastor Pete Schwalm called to invite me to serve on staff at Fairhaven Church as the Equipping and Outreach Pastor. Looking back it has been a perfect ministry fit with my missionary service as the President of an Evangelical Bible Seminary in La Paz, Bolivia and my role as mission pastor in another Alliance church. It is a joy to serve with a tremendous godly and gifted staff and ministry leaders in a cutting edge missional church that is impacting our community and the nations for Christ.
Raised under the influence of loving and God-fearing parents who took me to church, I received Christ as my savior through the Navigator’s Campus Ministry while in college. The Lord used five Godly men who discipled me during my first eight years of my Christian life to guide me into the ministry.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” John 15:16
