In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), the Samaritan had compassion for the man who had been robbed and beaten. He had splagma, a love so deep that it comes from your gut.
By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:33)
Here some of the ways that God speaks about love.
• Covers a ton of sins
• Determines if we know God
• Mark of a disciple
• Core motivation in our actions
• Just like Jesus did
• Willing to give up a lot
• Gives
• Defuses tensions
• If you compete, compete for this
• Impossible without humility, gentleness and patience
• Only be indebted by love
• Takes a pure heart
• Important to God
• Doesn’t overlook but allows God to take vengeance
• Creates harmony
• Is proof that we are born of God
• Because God showed love to us
• Needs to be our default
• Second greatest
• We were loved first
• Includes forgiveness
• Takes remaining in Jesus
• Centerpiece of the Gospel
• Easy with words; powerful in action
• Is an offering to God
• Determines if we are liars or not
• Your enemies
