28 Days of Prayer
- Pray Boldly
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
Devotional
In the Old Testament, priests were God’s chosen servants who served as mediators between God and His people. They worked in the temple, praying for people and bringing their sacrifices to God. They offered sacrifices on behalf of the people to make atonement for their sins.
But now, we see Jesus is our great High Priest! He was the “perfect lamb of God” who made atonement for all of our sins. Because we have such a merciful and perfect high priest, we can now “approach the throne of grace,” and come directly into the presence of God. And we come with boldness and confidence because we know that we shall obtain mercy and grace.
Even now, Christ is seated at God’s right hand interceding on our behalf (Hebrews 7:25-26). Therefore, when trials and temptation come upon us, let us not run and hide from God; rather, let us go at once to Jesus, and He will help us in our time of need. And not only will Christ help us, but we can also intercede for others as well.
Where do you need to come boldly to the throne of grace today? What trial or temptation do you need to bring to Christ, so He can exchange your burden for His blessing of grace and peace! Is there a person you would also like to pray boldly for – to pray that God would open their eyes to Him for salvation, or for physical and emotional healing? Bring your requests to the “throne room of grace,” and experience His heavenly touch today!
Lord Jesus, thank you for going to the cross for me. When you died on the cross, the Bible says the “veil was torn in two”, meaning I had direct access to your continual presence & power. Lord, I come asking for your mercy and grace in my life. I confess my sin to you, and pray that you would cleanse me of all unrighteousness in my life. I give you my burdens and my fears. I ask You to exchange my worries with worship, my fears for greater faith, and any anxieties for peace right now in my heart. Lastly Lord, I pray for that one person who doesn’t know you personally as their Lord & Savior. I pray that you would soften their heart and open their eyes so they could know & receive you as Lord. I also pray you would create an opportunity for me to speak to them about your love for them. Help me to be bold as a witness for You as well! I pray these things in Jesus name, Amen.
Parent Prompt
Is there something in your family where you are praying for God to show up? If the answer to the discussion question above is “yes”; find a rock, write the date on it, put it in a jar and begin praying that God would show up in that situation. When He answers your prayer, write the date of the answered prayer on the other side of the rock. This can be the beginning of seeing all of the times when God answered those big prayers. Pray for God’s grace and mercy and ask for God to show up in a big way in your family.
